Free YouTube Channel Audit
Paste any channel, yours or someone else's, and get a quick read on how often it posts, which videos broke out, and how much its audience comments. Public data only, so no login. Free.
Need it for a whole channel? The full channel report is free while 37 of 50 last — no card, no login.
How the audit works
We read the first page of the channel's Videos tab (its ~30 latest long-form uploads with their view counts and ages) and the exact comment totals for up to three of the newest videos. From that:
- Cadence counts uploads in the last 30 and 90 days and the days since the last one. YouTube shows only “2 months ago” past about four weeks, so the 90-day count is approximate.
- Outliers come from the channel's own views-versus-age curve, so a video from yesterday isn't compared with one from last month. 1.5× the expected views is a breakout, 0.6× or less is underperforming. Fewer than 5 videos is too few to fit a curve, and we say so.
- Reach is the median video's views as a share of subscribers: how much of the audience a normal upload actually reaches.
- Comment rate is comments per 1,000 views on the newest videos at least two days old, the same comments-over-views measure the full report uses.
What a public audit can't see
Watch time, retention, click-through rate, traffic sources and revenue are private to the channel owner in YouTube Studio. Any “audit” that shows them for a channel you don't own is estimating. This one sticks to what YouTube shows the public and labels each number with the sample behind it. For monetization, the monetization checker says what can and can't be proven from outside.
From a quick read to the full audit
This audit tells you that a video broke out. The channel report tells you why: every upload from the last 30 or 90 days ranked against the same baseline, up to ~500 comments per video sorted into requests, questions and pain points, and full transcripts, all exportable as CSV or JSON. One payment, no subscription, and the data deletes itself after 7 days.
FAQ
What does the channel audit check?
Four things from the channel's latest long-form uploads: how often it posts (last 30 and 90 days, and when it last uploaded), which videos beat the views expected for their age, its median views as a share of subscribers, and how many comments the newest videos get per 1,000 views.
How do you decide a video is a breakout?
We fit the channel's own views-versus-age curve across its recent uploads, so a video posted yesterday isn't compared with one from last month. A video at 1.5× or more of what the curve expects for its age counts as a breakout; 0.6× or less counts as underperforming. Same thresholds as the full report.
Can I audit a channel I don't own?
Yes. Everything comes from public data: view counts, upload dates and comment totals. There's no login or OAuth, which is also why it can't see watch time, retention, click-through rate or revenue. Those live in YouTube Studio and only the owner can read them.
What does the free audit leave out?
Shorts and live streams, anything beyond the latest ~30 long-form uploads, and the comments themselves. The comment rate is a sample of up to three videos. The paid report covers every upload in the last 30 or 90 days and reads the comments themselves.
